Kick off day / the game

So we sent * people to the regional kick off only one of which was a freshman because there was a bit of a mix up and people didn't know they were supposed to have robotics today.

That means there were only two team members and a mentor back at our shop watching the video feed. So all in all we had a total of ten people from the team watch the kickoff today.

Later an old team member showed up and voluntered to be a mentor so now we have three Mentors and our savior(you know the guy who puts up with us everyday and voulunteers his time so we can actually have meetings) Mr. Frank. Our Mentors our Mr.Wolter (the father of two of our old captians) , Erik Vahnan(i speled that wrong but... , one of the near origanial members), and Mike Dorner (who is also one of the near original members)

We did alot of Brian storming today and haven't gotten far pretty much we know our robot will kick a ball and will have four sides.

For any of those none FIRST people out there who may be following this blog

The Game

This year our robots have to play a version of soccer.

Each Allaince will have two goals on the same side of the field. (an alliance is made up of three teams chosen to play together for a round)

the field is divided into three parts The red goals, The middle, And the BLue goals

now dividing these sections are two sided rampts. /`\ that look cinda like that. There is also a little tunnel in the middle of themiddle of the rampts. (======='''''====== so the equals are the ramp the apastrophies are the tunnel, looking from a goal end .)

The point is to score as many goals as possible. Theres more to it but thats the basics i hope i didn't confuse anyone two much.

Any and all ideas are appreciated so please if you come up with any ideas for how to build the robot leave a comment.

Team split and the news

ok so we recently realized that most of our veteran members are not going to be at the compotion. This means that we have three veterians no programer and about ten freshman to run, fix, and possible finsh the robot at the compotion. Because of this unfortunate revalation the team is now two teams

Team one: Leaders Alex, Jessie, And Chris members: all ten freshmen (sorry i haven't learned all the names yet Team one will be building the FIRST robot this year with very little help from anyone else (only design concepts)

Team Two: Leaders Brian Eric Lizzy Members: about six vetrians (two lazy to make sure i get every one) Team two will be working on the NRC robots (with some help from the freshies)

There are also the people in between because we currently have one programmer and two learning so Head programmer: Will will be teaching Joe and Jeremy. These three will program both robotsFRC & NRC.

The NEWS

so we have picked a new mascott it is a kick butt worlf that is robotiffied (yes i said robotiffied). This will be painted on the side of our box

We have painted the new box black and the art team has started to paint on cool things on all the sides (it should look sweet)

We picked a cool name, Fatal Error, for your team. UNfortuantly we found out like yesterday its already taken and so is one of our other choices Bravebots. So today on the day of the Kickoff the ten people who were at the meeting had to pick a new name. After much debate we Decided on.

The Wolf Bytes.

It's an ok name but thats what you get last minute.

Well thats all for now.

First Day

so today was the first robotics meeting during school. Oh my gosh, 8 was a understatement. We had 12 new people and about five people who could not make it. Its going to be so hard to remember names. But at least we'll have a team for the next few years. That is if everyone stays. I got the introduction done. I forgot some things, but it was very difficult to get everyone's attention. We are now more ADD then EVER!!!. well its going to be an interesting year. We are jumping right to it as we have projects scheduled for next week. we have two and if things get done we will add more. One great thing about this is it will be easy to split the team into different projects and not have to worry about having enough. FINALLY.

The Rush to School

So we start school Wednesday and we have a bunch of things that we want to get done. We have some sponsor things that we want to get done. (If anyone wants to or knows someone who would like to donate please let us know!!!) Liz and I put mounted motors on a frame that hasn't worked in a year and only one person remembered how they where mounted. It was a real pain. But is was all in good necessity. We are building a programming bot so our programmers can get a head start on the new language. Monday we put on the electronics and chains so we can get it moving. Another problem that the beginning of school brings is the marching band. Don't get me wrong band is amazing but there is about 4 people on the team not in band, so progress is very slow. on the other hand the good thing about it is that we get some fresh minds in the new people. We have 10 interests already, some from Roehm's team, local middle school, and some just joining. I'm very excited for this year, I think we are going to do very well. Let's just hope the competition doesn't fall on the Disney trip. I will elaborate when we have more information. Phil you left one darn good team behind you. We miss you and wish you good luck. GO FRISBEE.

Fundraiser

The Highschools Freshman Orientation is this Tuesday at 7pm. A few of us decided that we should sell something to raise some money for the team, so we decided on making chocolate suckers and bracelets. Problem is that everybody is pretty busy this weekend. That takes out the Chocolate sucker idea. Then today we attempted to make the bracelets using hemp and thread. The bracelet idea failed due to the fact that we only have three done and they took forever to make. Eventually we said screw it and a couple of the guys and I went to BJs To get some candy in bulk. Today we were only checking out prices and figuring out how much we would make with what candy and how much we should buy. We ended up deciding on Blow Pops. With just a bucket of 100 and we would come out with almost $18 if we sold the suckers for 25 cents a piece. On Monday we are returning to BJs to pick up one bucket of the Blow Pops and then Tuesday at 6pm we are skipping Band Camp to go sell them at 7pm at the Orientation. Hopefully we can escape with out getting into to much trouble with the Band Directors.
Well thats it for now. I'll post how we do on Tuesday I guess.

annoyance

You know, work is really starting to annoy me. i get there and start something but before you know it I have to hand it of to someone to do it and take off. I'm never there anymore. it was nice because the former captain was there to make sure things got done. BUT HE DECIDED TO LEAVE. SO BLAH TO YOU PHIL. Haha just kidding. you have fun in Paraguay, the team is fine. but dont expect to get off so easy I'll still have questions galore for you. *evil snicker*.
